Joe proposes. Read the story: The Engagement Story .
Visited Tina's family for Christmas and enjoyed time well spent on wedding stuff. Like we got the church, reception, rehearsal dinner, florist, caterer and even figured out our honeymoon plans... all in a period of 5 days! It was a real gift from God to see everything come together so nicely.
Started wedding page on WWW and started Journal
Sent letters to Mrs. May and Mrs. Chen, our wedding director and florist (see link).
Learned how to use scanner at church. Now we can have some pictures on our wedding page! Scanned in some pictures and made a photo link and worked on the welcome page.
Tina and I finalized the wording for the wedding invitation and sent out the order to Rexcraft.
Setup Tina's computer to log on to Earthlink (our ISP). We went to Barnes & Noble to work on the wedding program and a little of the vows.
We had our last marriage counseling with Pastor Morris. We went over the wedding program and a final checkoff list.
Tina ordered the rehearsal dinner invitation and made the 'things to do in Knoxville' and directions to put in the invitations.
Whoa, people are starting to look at our web page... spent a couple of hours getting the forms to work, like the RSVP, Address Online and the message board. Try it out!
Invitations came in the mail! We were pretty excited putting the stuff together to see what it looks like. It's "unique" for sure. (One comment from Uncle Dave Mah was "Are you inviting people to a birthday party or a wedding??") PTL, everything came out a-okay! I called around to get group rates for hotels in Knoxville.
Tina and I finished the visitor sheet, which has a map of Knoxville, Hotel information and stuff to do around the area. (Alright, alright... Tina did the visitor sheet, but I supervised!) We're going to include this in all our out-of-town invitations. Take a peek!
Got the rehearsal dinner enclosures in the mail. We typed in some of the addresses we knew into Microsoft Access and printed our first labels. Got a couple of invitations ready. I think Tina's done with most of her friends and family, but I've still got a ways to go (big procrastinator!). :(
Got a scanner from CompUSA for cheap cheap. Now I don't have to sneak into the church to use their scanner. Watch out, Joe's got a new toy!!.
Tina got her veils today at a local place she found on the web. They came out pretty nice, and best of all cheap!
My mom came over for a visit. One of the things we did was show her Jefferson on Frankford, the apartment we wanted to live after we got married. It was really cool, because we were able to sign a lease early since they were still building apartments in August. So, we've got an apartment lined up now. It's a 2 bedroom, brand new place with a really nice kitchen area. And best of all, it's about a mile away from church and maybe 8 miles to work. My mom was pretty happy being able to watch us sign up. She took a ton of pictures.
Hey, we're done with the invitations! We finished assembling the packages, printed the labels and did a lot of licking. We got 85 invites sent out and PHEW, what a relief!
Joe gets a set of slide show pictures ready for wedding reception. It kind of shows us growing up through the years, getting together and some other important events in our lives... you know to get the tears flowing among the crowd. :) Joe sends it to his Daddy for converting to slides and Kodak's new digital photo CD album. Yes, even Daddy's into high tech stuff... thank you Daddy for doing this for us. Just as a side note, my Dad's been working at Kodak for the past 30 years and is now retired, but wow, 30 years! (Hmm, he probably has some pull on some good prices for converting the pictures to slides.)
We asked Sarah Wu to be our NEW wedding director (ask us about that one later. :) and Emory and Irene to be our hosts for the reception. And we got Jon and Yvonne to help us with the guest table at the ceremony. All of these people are our closest of friends back in Raleigh, so we know we're in good hands!
Well, it's a day after when the RSVPs are due, and we've received about 1/2 of the total responses. Actually, it's better than it sounds, because we kind of know the answer for the others. Plus, today is about 2.5 months from the wedding, and we figure it's hard to plan that far ahead. Anyway, I finished some letters for Sarah (new wedding director) and Pastor Morris.
Yea! Honeymoon's been officially booked. We're spending a week hitting all the hot spots of Knoxville, Tennessee... the zoo, library and bookstore. Just kidding (my honey's going to kill me). We're off to Disneyworld in Orlando, FL for a week, staying at the Carribean theme resort. After I got the package booked I sat back and thought for a little while... I think I got suckered into paying for a 7 day hopper pass for the 6 days we're going to be in Orlando... yup, 1..2..3..4..5..6. I don't know why I got a 7 day pass. Oh well, the good thing is the unused day passes never expire, so it looks like we'll be going back on one of our anniversaries!
Big wedding shower bash from our church group. Had a lot of fun.... I'll tell you more about it later... (to be continued).
Wow, we got selected by WayCool as the wedding site for the week! I'll put the award up on our page later too. Praise God! We even got some new visitors signed in on the bulletin board. Thanks!
Tina and I finished our wedding vows. We're keeping it a secret from each other, but we'll let Pastor Morris see it beforehand, so we don't say anything stupid in front of everyone we love.
I added Rick Phung as one of my groomsmen, since we've been spending more time together and he's got a lot of traits I find really commendable... like patience... speaking of which, he's Karen Cheng's boyfriend (click here to see picture).
Made a detailed timeline of the days we'll be spending in Knoxville... from our arrival till our departure to our honeymoon. We got inspiration from seeing one of our friend's wedding... Ruth Lin had things planned down to the minute as to who will be where at what time. This helps us visualize what our day will be like and see what areas still need more planning.
Did reception seating arrangements with Tina. Sent a bunch of letters to make sure everyone's on the same page... Philip (our caterer), Junneck (videographer), Sarah (update letter), my dad and dave (for the tux sizing info).
Went to a local Gingiss to get my tux sizing. Found out I've been growing... unfortunately in the wrong areas. :(
Big moving day! Tina and I moved our stuff into our new apartment. Lots of moving, since Karen (Tina's roommate) and John (my roommate) had to move as well. During the past week, we got a lot of stuff into the apartment, but all the big stuff went in today, including a washer and dryer. Check out our new address. From now till we get married, Tina will be staying at Karen's place (972) 267-7953.
Off to Knoxville to get married. See you there!
