Went to Mount Tamalpais State Park (near Stinson Beach) on Oct 1, 2000
stinson_beach_hike.jpg (48914 bytes) Starting out in the middle of Mount Tamalpais State Park at Pantoll Ranger Station, it takes about 3 miles to get to the Pacific Ocean.

The Steep Ravine Trail is almost entirely tree covered, so even on the sunniest day, you'll find plenty of shade.

This trail was pleasantly cool, beautiful and just the right length for a good excercise.

Plus we have the option of taking a LONG rest at Stinson Beach.

It was foggy the time we went, probably coming from the San Francisco Bay area.

To get to the ocean, it was all downhill.  On the way up, we took the Dipsea Trail... a long stairmaster session.  Not as bad as Mission Peak, but still pretty tiring.
